Being based in Birmingham, we’re so spoiled with how easy it is to reach the Caribbean. It’s a perfect destination for everything from a quick weekend escape (because who doesn’t love maximizing that PTO?) to a full week-long getaway. From families looking for top-tier kids’ clubs to honeymooners seeking their own slice of secluded paradise — there’s truly something for everyone. Turks & Caicos and the Cayman Islands offer direct flights that can have you on the beach by noon — an effortless escape from your inbox to island time. For family getaways, the Bahamas, Jamaica, and Antigua are home to fantastic multi-bedroom villas that offer all the resort amenities while keeping everyone together

My travel style in the Caribbean leans toward great service and a quaint sense of charm — the essence of barefoot luxury that’s never stuffy, always effortless. You’d probably find me there in my Lorna Murray hat, sipping an Aperol Spritz or sharing a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc with friends or family. My ideal day? Lounging at Eden Rock in St. Barths, boating around Little Dix Bay, or sneaking in a morning round of pickleball at the Dunmore before a long beach day.
Here’s what I’m loving in the Caribbean right now:
Barbados — I think we’re going to see this island rise in popularity over the next few years. It’s cool and a little under the radar, home to so many beautiful villas — perfect for groups of friends or families.
Mexico — And no, I’m not talking about your senior spring break in Cancun. I mean authentic, design-forward destinations like Hotel Esencia or Cuixmala. The undiscovered side of Mexico, perfect for the discerning traveler.
St. Barths — For my people who love to people-watch — this is your place. Fun, vibrant, and forever chic, St. Barths never goes out of style.
